Godzone Photography was established in 2023 by landscape and nature photographer Peter Wright. It is a fine art photography business showcasing New Zealand's world famous South Island through spectacular landscape and wildlife photographs. All Godzone's artwork is created by Peter Wright.

Peter Wright is a landscape photographer based in Rangiora, a town in North Canterbury, New Zealand. He is a self-taught artist, driven by his love of the outdoors, his care for the natural beauty of New Zealand’s South Island, and (in his words) his “severe addiction to photography.” 

Like most small and ambitious businesses, Godzone photography began as a dream. Peter Wright was territory manager for a leading safety equipment provider and, in his spare time, snapping photos every chance he got. Photography became an addiction for Peter—a good addiction! And Godzone grew out of that.

The name godzone is an old school word kiwis use to describe their own backyard, speaking to the pride they feel for their homeland as “God’s own” country. A place of awe and majesty, Te Waipounamu (“the waters of greenstone” in te reo Māori) or the South Island is a feast for photographers, and makes for some showstopping art.

When he’s not in the shop, Peter spends his time exploring the diverse landscapes of New Zealand’s South Island, from the rugged mountains and vast open spaces to the serene lakes and lush forests. His spectacular photographic wall art is available for sale, each piece a testament to Peter’s skill and dedication to his craft, as well as his deep connection to the landscapes he photographs.
